I want to push the boundaries of photography with new and less explored technology, like augmented and virtual reality. In my past work I have done both print-based photography as well as cinemagraphs, which combine video and photography into one all with an uncanny effect as the end goal. I've had successes and failures in both, and I wanted to marry the two to create something I was proud of, passionate about, and challenged me. I started thinking about two facets of my life: my inward personality and my outward persona. I wanted to link the two in this project within the space a single image. I wanted to show people that I, like many others, have created a facade for myself as a protective layer. I’ve been inspired by the work of Jeff Wall, whose hyperreal staged photographs make the viewer slightly uncomfortable without knowing exactly why, which is something I now aim to create in my work.
